More Buttons to Do More Stuff!

I've never liked the way the controls were set up for the main monitor zoom. Taking your hand away from the control stick in order to hit the zoom buttons just doesn't feel practical. So, I decided to look in to the possibilities of making them accessible from an additional location.


There isn't much spare area beneath the thumb plate.

However, I took some measurements and it seems, with a little dremmeling, I can make it work. I was able to conduct a successful test fit using cardboard to simulate the PC board and thumb plate. The margin for error was nil.

A guy from work gave me the idea to use Pedals!


Good thing I have a bunch from my Mech Warrior days. The small black ones are simply switches. Could be perfect for zoom in and out.



Here's another. Wouldn't it be nice if you were able to shift gears without taking your hand off of the left controller.

I though about using a decade counter integrated circuit to sequence up when one button is pressed and down when another is pressed.

I chose a pair of small buttons and a switch to select between the normal gear leaver and...
